Job summary

Pear Tree High School, part of Prospere Learning Trust, is seeking a reliable Caretaker to join the site team in Cheadle Hulme. You will ensure security, safety, cleanliness and general maintenance of the premises and grounds, acting as a key holder for site access.

The role supports health and safety procedures, undertakes repairs, and assists with school events. A full driving licence is highly desirable; right to work in the UK required. Training provided where needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in caretaker or similar role responsible for maintenance, cleaning, and repair tasks.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety and hygiene regulations, COSHH desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff, pupils, contractors and visitors.

Responsibilities

• General repairs and site maintenance (inside and outside)
• Daily monitoring of health and safety, including fire safety checks
• Security of the school site, including key holder duties and CCTV where applicable
• Liaison with contractors and monitoring their compliance with site regulations
• Supervision of cleaning staff and oversight of external cleaning contractors
• Grounds maintenance including litter picking and gritting in poor weather
• Setting up for school events such as exams and parents' evenings
• Maintaining stock levels and ordering supplies
• Supporting lettings and events outside normal hours
• Acting as a first aider (training provided)
