If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Science School Technician to join a high-performing secondary school in Bolton– rated Outstanding by Ofsted in its most recent inspection.

Position: Science School Technician
Location: Bolton (BL1)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-Time

About the Role:
As a Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the smooth running of the school’s practical departments – particularly Science. You’ll be responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment, assisting teaching staff during lessons, and ensuring that students have access to safe, functional, and well-organised learning environments.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and maintain equipment, tools, and resources for practical lessons
• Provide in-class technical support for staff and students
• Maintain safe working practices and assist with risk assessments
• Manage inventory and order resources when required
• Support the science department with administrative tasks where needed
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times

What We’re Looking For:
• Previous experience as a school technician or in a laboratory/workshop setting
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• A good understanding of health and safety procedures
• A proactive, flexible attitude and willingness to support a busy department
• Relevant qualifications or training in Science are desirable
Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, or willingness to obtain one
