Science Technician (Maternity Cover Part Time) - Petworth, West Sussex

Our client is an HMC co-educational boarding and day school that nurtures academic excellence, sporting success and creative talent. The 450-acre campus on the edge of the South Downs, is an area of outstanding beauty. Their busy School has an excellent calibre of teaching staff and support teams.
Do you have a science background or interest? We are a friendly, supportive science department looking for a flexible Science Technician for maternity cover, 2 or 3 days per week. Our technician team work across core scientific curricula, providing the practical element in support of dynamic & engaging lessons. Under guidance, the role will include:
-Supporting learning by organising, setting up and clearing down after practical lessons
-Preparing and disposal of chemicals using designated disposal protocols.
-Ensuring health & safety procedures are both understood and followed
-Monitoring stock levels and preparing requisitions for equipment, following guidelines and processes.
-Maintaining a purposeful, orderly, and productive working environment, including any stock rooms.
Previous experience working in a school would be advantageous, however, scientific knowledge and attitude are more important. The role is to ensure effective provision of materials, equipment, and other resources in Science lessons, in order to facilitate the provision of high-quality educational experiences to students, thereby reflecting the policies, aims and values of the College.
