Job summary

Complete Classroom Services Ltd is seeking an experienced Science Technician to support practical science in secondary schools across Southeast London and surrounding areas.

You will prepare laboratories, equipment and materials for lessons across KS3-KS5, ensuring safe, efficient sessions in partnership with teachers.

Qualifications

• Previous relevant experience working as a Science Technician within a school setting – essential.
• Good knowledge of laboratory procedures and practical science equipment.
• An understanding of COSHH and laboratory health and safety requirements.
• Experience preparing materials and equipment for practical lessons.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
• The ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and a professional approach when working with staff and students.
• A science-related qualification such as A-level, degree or equivalent would be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up equipment, materials and chemicals for practical science lessons.
• Support teachers during practical lessons, demonstrations and experiments.
• Ensure laboratories are appropriately prepared before and after lessons.
• Safely store, maintain and dispose of laboratory equipment and chemicals.
• Follow COSHH, health and safety and school laboratory procedures at all times.
• Maintain clean, safe and well‑organised laboratories and preparation areas.
• Monitor stock levels, maintain accurate inventories and assist with ordering resources.
• Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of equipment.
• Prepare resources for examinations, practical assessments and science activities.
• Assist with science displays, open evenings, school events and enrichment activities.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider science department.
