Job summary

Complete Classroom Services Ltd is recruiting an experienced Science Technician to join supportive secondary schools across Enfield and surrounding areas. You'll help prepare laboratories, equipment and resources for Key Stages 3–5 and work closely with teachers to ensure practical sessions run safely and effectively.

This role is full-time, term-time only, with a competitive hourly rate of £16–£17 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience working as a Science Technician in a school or education setting.
• Good knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment.
• Understanding COSHH and health and safety in a laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up equipment, materials and chemicals for practical science lessons.
• Support teachers during practical lessons, demonstrations and experiments.
• Ensure laboratories are prepared before and after lessons.
• Store, maintain and dispose of laboratory equipment and chemicals safely.
• Follow COSHH and health and safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain clean, safe and well-organised laboratories and preparation areas.
• Monitor stock levels, inventories and assist with ordering resources.
• Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of equipment.
• Prepare resources for examinations and practical assessments.
• Assist with science displays, events and enrichment activities.
• Work with teaching staff and the wider science department.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with relevant school-based Science Technician experience who enjoys working behind the scenes to support high-quality practical science lessons.

You will play an important role in preparing laboratories, equipment and resources for lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, while working closely with teachers to ensure practical sessions run safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

About You

• Relevant previous experience working as a Science Technician within a school setting – essential.
• Good knowledge of laboratory procedures and practical science equipment.
• An understanding of COSHH and laboratory health and safety requirements.
• Experience preparing materials and equipment for practical lessons.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
• The ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and a professional approach when working with staff and students.
• A science‑related qualification such as A‑level, degree or equivalent would be desirable.
