Job summary

Appleton Academy in Bradford is seeking an enthusiastic Reception Assistant to join our support staff. You will be the first contact for pupils, parents and colleagues, welcoming visitors and providing a warm, professional first impression.

The role involves answering enquiries by phone and in person, coordinating meetings, minuting where required, and maintaining confidential records and school databases in line with statutory duties.

Qualifications

  • Be an approachable, friendly but professional ‘first face’ of the Academy when welcoming visitors to school
  • Be confident in answering telephone and in-person enquiries and resolving problems
  • Be able to use their own initiative and work closely with colleagues from across a range of departments
  • Be able to converse confidently and professionally with visitors, while at times de-escalating conflict
  • Be familiar with office processes and procedures, including service level agreements, meeting targets and managing workload to deliver an outstanding service
  • Provide a high-level administrative service, including word processing, reception duties, managing visitors, organising meetings and minute taking
  • Engage in continuing professional development and training
  • Manage complex and confidential data and information while ensuring that school systems are kept up to date
  • Maintain critical school records and databases, ensuring confidentiality is maintained where necessary, but meeting the Academy’s statutory responsibilities

As the first point of contact for the Academy, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our reception area operates efficiently, professionally and warmly.
