Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a School Readiness Mentor to support pupils in EYFS to KS2, delivering targeted literacy, numeracy and communication interventions in welcoming Primary Schools. The role offers pathways into teaching and related child-focused careers.

Applicants should have a relevant degree within the last five years and be committed to safeguarding. A proactive, patient approach and DBS Update Service are desirable, with APSCo Compliance+ accreditation highlighted in the company

Qualifications

• Degree obtained within the last five years.
• Professional employment references covering the last two years.
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, nurturing and proactive approach.
• Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 on a one-to-one, small group and whole-class basis.
• Help children develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning.
• Deliver targeted interventions to support literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
• Support children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs and SEMH.
• Encourage positive behaviour, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Work closely with teachers to identify and support pupils requiring additional guidance.
• Assist with classroom activities, learning resources and pupil engagement.
• Promote attendance, participation and independence within the school environment.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
