Job summary

George Watson’s College in Edinburgh seeks a Nursing Services Manager to lead the School’s Nursing provision, ensuring high quality medical and first aid care for pupils. The post holder remains an active nurse while fulfilling leadership duties and maintaining NMC standards.

The role involves managing a 60/40 nurse rota, developing training programs with staff, and ensuring compliance with NHS and school policies.

Qualifications

• Qualified nurse with NMC registration and a nursing degree or equivalent.
• Experience leading a nursing team in an institutional setting.
• Proven ability to manage recruitment, training and performance of staff.
• Strong time management and prioritisation for a busy school health service.
• Excellent written and oral communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the nursing team to meet pupils' health needs in line with professional standards.
• Develop and deliver a training programme for staff and pupils with the Learning team.
• Manage a 60/40 nurse rota across all school days and holiday periods.
• Attend Strategy meetings with Guidance, PSHE and senior teams.
• Oversee stock control, budget compliance and medical supplies ordering.
• Design data collection systems to inform school management decisions.
