Job summary

Bloxham School invites a qualified nurse to join the Palmer Health Centre team on a zero-hours, on-site basis during term time (34 weeks per year). The role supports pupils and staff, delivering compassionate care and timely referrals as needed.

You will work within the Medical Department, maintain records, and collaborate with the nursing team. A current NMC registration, First Aid, and safeguarding commitment are essential.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with current NMC registration.
• Experience as a School Nurse or in Occupational Health.
• Ability to work independently within professional boundaries.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office/365.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible approach to work.
• Calm, caring and compassionate demeanor.
• Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Assess and respond to pupils and staff needing medical intervention.
• Undertake thorough assessments of accidents and injuries and arrange treatment/referral.
• Communicate with Housemasters/Housemistresses, Matrons, parents and colleagues about health needs.
• Provide health education and resources to pupils, parents and staff.
• Maintain accurate medical records (paper and electronic).
• Collaborate with the nursing team for handovers and continuity of care.
• Work in line with the NMC Code and School policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and GDPR compliance; report safeguarding concerns.
• Participate in mandatory training and Palmer Health Centre meetings.
• Contribute to the broader Medical Department development.
