Job summary

Wye Valley NHS Trust is offering a training opportunity for registered nurses to become Specialist Community and Public Health Nurse – School Nurse. The 12-month programme starts February 2027, with 50% in practice and 50% theory, supported by university staff.

During training you will work in homes, communities and schools, gaining experience across health promotion, assemblies, and intervention programmes, with ongoing support from mentors and supervisors.

Qualifications

• First level registered nurse with the NMC.
• For Level 7 study you must have a health-related degree (Nursing or Midwifery).
• Post holder must have a full driving license and access to a car for work purposes.
• Completion of SCPHN qualification in School Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Attend drop-in sessions at high schools and support teaching of pupils through assemblies/workshops.
• Contribute to team business meetings and daily allocation.
• Health promotion at key events such as parents evenings and transition days.
