Job summary

Wye Valley NHS Trust invites registered nurses to apply for a Specialist Community and Public Health Nurse – School Nurse training. The 12‑month programme starts February 2027, with 50% in practice and 50% theory, learning under University of Wolverhampton supervision.

You will train within a community setting, visiting homes and schools, supported by Practice Supervisors, and progress to a School Nurse registration with the NMC on completion.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the NMC (RGN/RSCN).
• Postgraduate qualification required for Level 7 study.
• Training in Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Completion of SCPHN qualification in School Nursing.
• Completion of initial health assessment under guidance of the School Nurse.
• Support programme of intervention under direction of the School Nurse.
• Attend drop-in sessions at high schools and support teaching of pupils via assemblies/workshops.
• Contribute to team meetings and daily allocation.
