A public health service in Greater London is seeking a School Nurse responsible for assessing health needs and planning school health services for children. The ideal candidate should have nursing qualifications, experience with children aged 5-19, and strong communication skills. This role involves collaboration with schools, families, and other agencies to improve health outcomes. The position offers a competitive salary between £37,035 and £39,513, and benefits including training support and local government leave allowance.
£37,035- £39,513 inclusive of higher cost living allowance - LBN PO1, AfC Band 5 equivalent
Term time (pro-rata) roles are available.
The School Nurse will be professionally responsible and accountable for the assessment of health needs, planning and evaluation of the school health service delivery, for both individuals and groups within a defined school age population.
The job involves working in partnership with schools, parents/carers and other agencies to achieve the best health outcomes for children and young people. The School Nurse works within the School Health Service, to deliver the Healthy Child Programme.

Identifying, supporting, planning, deliveringand evaluating health promotion activities in line with the school curriculum andlocally agreed priorities.
Devising appropriate individualised health careplans for the school aged child through continuous development, implementationand evaluation of programmes of care.
Contribution to the assessment and review ofspecial education and medical needs.
Working collaboratively in partnership withchildren, young people, parents / carers and other agencies, e.g. education,social services, other healthcare workers and the voluntary sector to meet theneeds of children and young people.

TheChildren's Health 0-19 service had their CQC inspection in 2021 and rated Goodin all areas.
The post holder will be professionally responsible and accountable for the assessment of health needs, planning and evaluation of the school health service delivery, for both individuals and groups within a defined school age population. He/ she will work in partnership with schools, parents/carers and other agencies to achieve the best health outcomes for children and young people.
As the key health worker, the associate school nurse will promote the health and wellbeing of the school-aged child so as to enable each child to reach his/her full potential in line with Newhams inclusive education policy. This will help to minimise effects of social, cultural and racial inequality.
The post holder will be required to develop a specialist role in areas of school health.
