A Specialist SEN School in Newbury is seeking a full-time Mental Health Assistant to support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. School Mental Health Assistant

Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:30-15:30

Pay: £85 to £95 per day

We are a Specialist SEN School in Newbury looking for a full‑time Mental Health Assistant to join our team. The school caters to children with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs, including complex trauma, attachment disorders, generalised anxiety and behaviour difficulties.

As a School Mental Health Assistant will support students throughout the school day, aiding their academic learning and interpersonal skills. You will follow therapeutic practice, help each child regulate emotions and cope with daily mental challenges, provide general assistance to the class teacher and liaise with on‑site Psychologists and Therapists to maximise each child’s education.

This role is ideal for a recent Graduate in Psychology, Criminology or a related field who is passionate about mental health, resilient, open‑minded and ready for a challenge. Previous experience working with children and additional needs will be beneficial, but enthusiasm and a positive attitude are most important.
