Job summary

Wixams Academy is seeking a practical Site Agent to maintain and manage the school site across Wixams, Bedford and associated academies. You will carry out repairs, ensure safety and presentation, and support health and safety checks, with liaison to contractors and staff.

The role follows a rotating shift pattern and requires confident communication with staff, pupils and visitors. DBS checks are part of safeguarding requirements for appointments.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks across the school site.
• Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are safe, secure, and well-presented.
• Supporting health and safety compliance and site inspections.
• Managing site security, including opening and locking up the premises.
• Liaising with contractors and overseeing maintenance works.
• Responding to emergencies and resolving issues quickly.
• Supporting school events and community lettings.
• Maintaining records, inspections, and compliance documentation.
