Job summary

Stoke Primary School is seeking a Catering Assistant to support daily food preparation, serve meals and help keep the kitchen clean. This term-time only role requires reliable colleagues who can follow health and safety rules.

You will assist with setting up serving counters, washing up, moving dining furniture, and supporting pupils and staff with meals while respecting dietary needs and safeguarding policies. DBS checks and references are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation, which may include some cooking.
• Set up serving counters for lunch.
• Assist with daily kitchen cleaning and cleaning of equipment.
• Assist with washing up kitchen items and move dining room furniture when needed.
• Serve pupils and staff in line with school requirements.
• Report inappropriate behaviour in line with school policy.
• Encourage children to take a balanced meal and accommodate special diets.
• Be aware of children on special or restricted diets for medical reasons.
• Maintain dress standards and health and safety compliance.
• Attend appropriate meetings as directed by SMT and adhere to safeguarding procedures.
• DBS checks and two satisfactory references may be required.
