Job summary

Garden City Academy is seeking a Catering Assistant to support our school dining service. You will assist with basic food preparation, serve meals to pupils and staff, and help keep the kitchen and dining area clean and orderly.

We value a friendly, reliable team member who can work under the kitchen manager's guidance, follow safety rules, and contribute to a positive lunch experience for children.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen or school dining environment preferred.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow instructions.
• Good hygiene and food safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of vegetables, salads and fruit under supervision.
• Simple cooking duties under supervision.
• Serving meals to pupils and staff under supervision.
• General kitchen and dining room duties (washing up, tidying, cleaning).
• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment in line with guidance.
• Be aware of customer service needs and respond helpfully.
• Ensure food is prepared and served safely under kitchen manager guidance.
• Comply with relevant legislation and safeguarding policies.
