Job summary

Tymberwood Academy is seeking a Catering Assistant to support our school kitchen, pre‑prep fresh vegetables, salads and fruit, and serve meals with a positive, friendly approach. You’ll work under the kitchen manager’s supervision to maintain standards and safety in a busy dining environment.

We value a good sense of humour, a love for children and the ability to handle school lunch rushes. This role sits within REAch2 Academy Trust, offering development opportunities and a supportive team

Qualifications

• Customer service skills required to interact with pupils and staff.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a busy school kitchen.
• Basic food handling and kitchen hygiene awareness.

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of fresh vegetables, salads and fruit under supervision.
• Simple cooking duties under supervision.
• Serving of meals to customers under supervision.
• General kitchen and dining room duties (washing up, moving tables and chairs, sweeping and mopping).
• Cleaning of the kitchen and its surrounds.
• Be aware of customer service needs.
• Ensure that food is prepared and served safely under the kitchen manager.
• Comply with all relevant legislation.
