Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Cook Manager for Featherby Infant and Nursery School in Gillingham. You will oversee all food and beverage operations, finances for the kitchen and ensure high standards of service for staff and students.

You will lead and mentor the kitchen team, manage costs, and develop menus while maintaining rigorous health and safety practices. This is a term-time role with regular hours and holiday leave.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking for 100–1300 students.
• Experience following recipes in a school kitchen.
• Experience supervising staff or line management.
• Experience working with fresh produce.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Professional, lead by example attitude.
• Certified food handling: NVQ Level 2; Level 2 Food Safety; at least 1 year hands-on cooking and training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee replenishment and end-of-service dismantling.
• Develop, mentor, train and inspire the kitchen team.
• Control catering operation including labour, food and stock.
• Manage and optimise costs under your control.
• Ensure uniform food and service standards for staff, visitors and students.
• Create and develop menus.
• Conduct routine audits to ensure standards.
