Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Cook for King Edward VI King’s Norton School for Boys in Birmingham. You will support the Cook Manager in overseeing school kitchen operations, food presentation, and compliance with safety standards. Working hours are 08:00–14:00, Monday to Friday, term-time only (39 weeks).

Qualifications

• 1 year of hands-on cooking experience.
• Experience cooking for large-scale settings (100–1300 students).
• Experience following recipes in a catering environment.
• Experience with fresh produce and ingredients.
• Adherence to health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Professional conduct and lead-by-example mindset.
• Basic food handling certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, present and serve food to company standards (breakfast, lunch, hospitality).
• Adhere to Food safety, Health & Safety, Allergen awareness, COSHH and HACCP regulations.
• Carry out catering staff training.
• Ensure service counters and food are presented to company standards.
• Portion dishes according to business requirements.
• Complete daily/weekly cleaning of preparation and storage areas and related spaces.
• Deliver high standards in customer service and cleanliness.
