Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Cook to assist the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor in the preparation and cooking of meals. The role requires reliable teamwork, adherence to HACCP standards and a proactive approach to kitchen hygiene and safety.

You will participate in menu planning, stock control and customer service within a school catering environment, supporting other staff and promoting service quality.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1 & 706-2 or equivalent or higher relevant qualification.
• Two years’ experience of food preparation and cooking within a catering establishment.
• Knowledge of HACCP and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of meals and menus including portion control and special dietary needs.
• Record keeping and stock management tasks.
• Maintain hygiene, health and safety in the kitchen (temperature recording).
• Support direction of other staff and supervision where required.
• Assist in planning meals and organising stores and deliveries.
• General kitchen duties including washing up and cleaning.
