Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is recruiting a Chef on a 3-month contract for a Local Authority in Gamston. You will deliver nutritious meals for children, staff and visitors, plan menus, manage food budgets, and ensure high standards of food safety and hygiene.

The role requires experience in professional catering, knowledge of COSHH and health and safety, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team within budget limits.

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional catering or kitchen setting.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
• Ability to plan menus, manage stock and work within budgets.
• COSHH and health and safety understanding in catering.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve meals per approved menus and nutritional standards.
• Plan menus, order supplies, and monitor budget expenditure.
• Maintain cleanliness, food hygiene and kitchen safety at all times.
• Check deliveries for quality and quantity; report supplier or equipment issues.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety at Work Act and relevant regulations.
• Maintain secure food storage and accurate stock records.
• Clean equipment, surfaces and storage areas per schedules.
• Support COSHH and risk assessment processes for safe use of equipment.
• Promote excellent customer service and positive relations with staff and visitors.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive and professional working environment.
