Job summary

Hayesfield Girls School is seeking an experienced Chef Manager to oversee two kitchens, delivering nutritious meals for students and staff. You will lead a team, ensure health and safety compliance, and work with a forward-thinking Trust to uphold high standards of food quality and sustainability.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting, and menu development skills, with a track record of staff training and safeguarding students.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience at Head Chef level.
• Solid understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements.
• Up-to-date knowledge of COSHH and HACCP.
• Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve an imaginative range of nutritionally balanced dishes.
• Develop and deliver a catering strategy aligned with the Food for Life Partnership Scheme.
• Manage kitchen staff, providing training and performance management.
• Oversee health and safety procedures, including COSHH and HACCP compliance.
• Contribute to menu planning, portion control and nutrition analysis, including special dietary needs.
• Maintain stock levels, order from suppliers and manage budget.
• Oversee the cashless catering system and reconcile readings at service end.
• Participate in staff meetings, training courses and performance reviews.
• Ensure safeguarding of students and maintain links with staff and parents.
