Job summary

Humphrey Perkins School is seeking a Catering Assistant to support a healthy school food service. You will assist with meal preparation, serve meals to pupils and staff, and maintain kitchen cleanliness while following safety guidelines. Training will be provided, and you may help at school events and break times.

This part-time role (22.5 hours/week, 38.6 weeks/year) offers a pro rata salary and requires a proactive, team-oriented approach in a busy school environment.

Qualifications

• Assist in preparation and cooking of meals.
• Serve meals/snacks to students and staff.
• Undertake cleaning of kitchen equipment and report issues.
• Follow Food Safety and Health & Safety legislation.
• Assist covering the food tills at break and lunch times.
• Attend term-time training sessions.
• Adhere to Trust policies and Health & Safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Catering Manager, assist in meal preparation and cooking.
• Serve meals and snacks to students and staff.
• Clean kitchen equipment and facilities as directed.
• Report equipment breakdowns and safety hazards.
• Cover food tills at break and lunch times when required.
• Attend relevant training sessions during term time.
• Comply with Food Safety/Health & Safety legislation and policies.
• Participate in events and after-hours catering as needed.
