Job summary

Gwynedd Council is seeking a General Kitchen Assistant to support the Cook in Charge with the preparation of simple food, food service, and dining room setup. You will also wash equipment and keep the kitchen and dining areas clean.

The post requires basic food hygiene, good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work in a bilingual Welsh/English environment. The appointment is permanent, with a salary of GBP 10,518 per year and the closing date 10 September 2026.

Qualifications

• Basic food hygiene required or prepared to pass within 3 months of appointment.
• Desirable: training in food production or food service.
• Training in Health and Safety (e.g., moving and handling, first aid).
• Training in selling skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of simple food and to serve the food.
• Wash equipment and keep the kitchen and dining room clean.
• Maintain a high degree of personal cleanliness and wear clean overalls.
• Comply with Health and Safety and Food Safety policies.
• Follow instructions from Cook in Charge or Deputy.
