Job summary

Walsall Council is seeking a Food Preparation Assistant to support school meal production and delivery across several premises. The role involves general kitchen duties, including cleaning of equipment, with part-time hours across 38 weeks per year.

Successful applicants will hold or train for an Essential Food Hygiene Certificate. Candidates must complete a pre-employment health questionnaire, and meet English language fluency requirements for public sector work.

Qualifications

• Successful applicants will hold or train for the Essential Food Hygiene Certificate.
• There is a pre-employment health questionnaire prior to commencing kitchen duties.
• This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Work across multiple premises with specified hours.
