School Kitchen Assistant – Flexible Hours

Job summary

City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Catering Assistant to join our school catering service on a part-time, sessional basis. The post is 16 hours per week across 38 weeks per session, with a pro rata salary of £25,661–£25,924 depending on experience and hours.

You will work as part of a team to deliver meals, support basic food preparation, and provide excellent customer care to pupils and staff in a school dining environment. PVG checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation and cooking of food and beverages in accordance with a service specification.
• Customer service – Interaction with both pupils and school staff.
• Setting up the dining room and service area.
• Serving meals and having an awareness of portion control and special diets.
• Cleaning of kitchen, dining and service areas.
• Use of catering equipment (training will be provided)
• Compliance with the legal and council regulations, policies, procedures and compliance to the school food regulations 2021.
• Any other duties as required by the needs of the business
