Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an experienced Assistant IT Manager to join a multi-site trust across Bolton, Bury and Halifax. The role combines hands-on IT support with leadership responsibilities across six primary schools.

The ideal candidate has school-based IT experience and will support Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365, manage IT projects, and mentor on-site staff while ensuring secure, reliable systems.

Qualifications

• Mandatory: Previous school-based IT support/infrastructure experience.
• Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
• Good networking knowledge, including switches, Wi‑Fi and TCP/IP.
• Experience troubleshooting a wide range of hardware, software and network issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organisational and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and work across multiple school sites.
• Proactive approach with ability to work independently or in a team.
• Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for regular site travel.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of IT services across six primary schools.
• Provide hands-on technical support to staff and pupils.
• Maintain and support Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Support network infrastructure, including switches and Wi‑Fi.
• Administer and support the Bromcom MIS.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software and network issues.
• Assist with IT projects and system upgrades.
• Mentor and guide on-site IT staff.
• Ensure IT systems are secure, reliable and compliant.
• Collaborate with IT Manager to improve IT provision across the Trust.
• Prioritise and manage support requests across locations.
