Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is assisting a forward-thinking secondary school in Hackney to appoint an experienced HR Officer to join its support staff team on a full-time, temporary basis from October 2026.

The HR Officer will support staff across the employee lifecycle, ensure safeguarding and employment compliance, and work closely with the School Business Manager and senior leaders to deliver a professional, responsive HR service in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in generalist HR or HR administration role.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
• Experience within education would be beneficial but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support recruitment campaigns and coordinate interview processes.
• Manage pre-employment checks and safeguarding compliance.
• Maintain HR systems and employee records.
• Prepare contracts, contract variations and HR correspondence.
• Liaise with payroll to ensure staffing changes are processed accurately.
• Monitor absence records and support attendance procedures.
• Assist managers with HR queries and administrative support.
• Contribute to ongoing development of HR processes and systems.
