Job summary

Principal Education are recruiting an experienced Food Technician to join a secondary school in Thurrock on a long-term basis. You will support practical lessons, prepare ingredients and equipment, and help maintain a safe, well‑organised kitchen environment.

The ideal candidate will have a background in Food Technology, catering, hospitality or school‑based food preparation, with solid knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in Food Technology, catering or hospitality.
• Solid understanding of food hygiene and health & safety.
• Able to work with kitchen equipment and ingredients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for Food Technology lessons.
• Support teachers during practical food lessons.
• Ensure kitchens, classrooms and equipment are clean, organised and ready for use.
• Maintain appropriate food hygiene, health and safety standards.
• Monitor and maintain stock levels, ordering supplies when required.
• Assist with preparation and organisation of practical examinations and assessments.
• Ensure equipment is safely stored and maintained.
• Support students during practical activities where appropriate.
• Follow school policies relating to safeguarding and health & safety.
