Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Food Technician to join a welcoming secondary school in Newham, East London. You will support the Food Technology department, assisting with practical lessons and ensuring a safe, clean working environment.

The role is long-term and term-time only, starting ASAP. The ideal candidate will have experience in a school or catering setting, with knowledge of food preparation, hygiene and health & safety, and a passion for practical education.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school, college, catering or related environment preferred.
• Good knowledge of food preparation, hygiene and health and safety.
• Well organized and reliable, able to work independently.
• Confident with students during practical activities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for Food Technology lessons.
• Ensure kitchens, equipment and work areas are clean, safe and well maintained.
• Support teachers and students during practical food lessons.
• Monitor stock and order supplies when required.
• Ensure health and safety, food hygiene and COSHH procedures are followed.
• Assist with preparation and organisation of practical demonstrations and activities.

We are currently recruiting for a Food Technician to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school based in Newham, East London.

The successful candidate will provide essential technical and practical support to the Food Technology department, helping teachers deliver engaging and effective practical lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for Food Technology lessons.
• Ensure kitchens, equipment and work areas are clean, safe and well maintained.
• Support teachers and students during practical food lessons.
• Monitor and maintain food stock and order supplies when required.
• Ensure appropriate health and safety, food hygiene and COSHH procedures are followed.
• Assist with the preparation and organisation of practical demonstrations and activities.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience working in a school, college, catering or food-related environment is desirable.
• Good knowledge of food preparation, hygiene and health & safety.
• Well organised, reliable and able to work independently.
• Confident working with young people and supporting students in practical activities.
• A relevant Food Technology, Catering or Hospitality qualification would be advantageous.
