Job summary

Principal Education are recruiting an experienced Food Technician to join a secondary school in Thurrock on a long-term, full-time basis. You will prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for Food Technology lessons and support teachers during practical sessions.

The ideal candidate has a background in Food Technology, catering or hospitality, understands food hygiene and health & safety, and is organised, reliable and able to work independently to ensure classrooms and equipment are ready

Qualifications

• Experience in Food Technology, catering, hospitality or similar.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety.
• Confident with kitchen equipment and ingredient preparation.
• Organised, reliable and able to work independently.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to support learning.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for Food Technology lessons.
• Support teachers during practical food lessons.
• Ensure kitchens, classrooms and equipment are clean, organised and ready for use.
• Maintain appropriate food hygiene, health & safety standards.
• Monitor and maintain stock levels, ordering supplies when required.
• Assist with preparation of practical examinations and assessments.
• Ensure equipment is stored and maintained safely.
• Support students during practical activities where appropriate.
• Follow safeguarding and health & safety policies.
