Principal Education are recruiting a dedicated Food Technician for a long-term, full-time role in Thurrock. Start ASAP. You will support the Food Technology department, preparing ingredients, equipment and resources for lessons and assisting teachers during practical sessions.

Ideal candidates will have experience in Food Technology, catering or hospitality and a strong understanding of food hygiene and safety. This role involves working with students and maintaining a safe classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Background in Food Technology, catering, hospitality or school-based food preparation.
• Good understanding of food hygiene & safety.
• Confident with kitchen equipment and preparing ingredients.
• Organised, reliable and able to work independently.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Enjoys working with young people and supporting learning.
• Proactive and flexible in approach.
• Previous experience in a secondary school is desirable, but catering/hospitality experience ok.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for Food Technology lessons.
• Support teachers during practical food lessons.
• Ensure kitchens, classrooms and equipment are clean, organised and ready for use.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety.
• Monitor stock levels and order supplies as required.
• Assist with preparation and organisation of practical examinations.
• Ensure equipment is safely stored and maintained.
• Support students during practical activities.
• Follow safeguarding policies and procedures.
