Job summary

Brilliant School in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee maintenance, security and facilities management of the campus. You will ensure a safe, secure, and fully operational environment for students and staff, coordinating with contractors and leading the on-site team.

The role requires hands-on maintenance skills and a solid understanding of Health & Safety regulations; a DBS check is required or willingness to undergo screening.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities/premises management, ideally in an educational environment.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation; IOSH/NEBOSH qualification advantageous.
• Hands-on maintenance skills (plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical) would be beneficial.
• Strong communication with staff, contractors, and local authorities.
• Valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo screening).

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily maintenance, repair, and security of school buildings, grounds, and plant equipment.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, fire regulations, risk assessments, and COSHH standards.
• Manage statutory testing (legionella, fire alarms, emergency lighting, gas safety) and maintain records.
• Supervise external contractors on site, ensuring work is safe and on schedule.
• Act as primary keyholder, responding to out-of-hours alarm calls.
• Develop and lead the site support team, scheduling and coordinating daily operations.
• Execute minor maintenance and DIY tasks across the premises.
