Job summary

Goddard Recruitment is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to provide long-term cover in a specialist school in Leeds. The role is 37 hours per week, all year round, with a hands-on remit across premises, facilities and Health & Safety.

You will oversee day-to-day site management, coordinate maintenance, manage contractors, and support caretaking staff to keep school sites safe, secure and well maintained. DBS checks are required for this school environment.

Qualifications

• Strong facilities, premises or site management experience.
• Good practical maintenance knowledge.
• Solid understanding of Health & Safety and statutory compliance.
• Experience managing contractors and maintenance works.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
• Capable of working independently and taking responsibility for urgent site issues.
• Previous experience within a school or education setting would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the day–to–day management of school premises and facilities.
• Managing statutory Health & Safety compliance, inspections and records.
• Coordinating planned preventative maintenance, repairs and general building works.
• Managing fire safety, security, cleaning and grounds maintenance.
• Managing and monitoring external contractors and maintenance works.
• Overseeing premises budgets and school vehicles.
• Managing and supporting caretaking staff.
• Responding to urgent site and maintenance issues.
• Ensuring school sites remain safe, secure and well maintained.
