Job summary

AWD online is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager / Premises Manager to help keep a busy school safe, compliant, well maintained and welcoming. You will oversee maintenance, cleaners, caretaking teams and contract works to support daily operations and safeguarding of pupils.

The role involves coordinating premises activities, conducting inspections, supporting planned maintenance and ensuring health and safety compliance across the site.

Qualifications

• Experience in a facilities management role.
• Experience supervising a team including cleaners and caretakers.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Understanding of health and safety and security issues.
• Strong organisational skills with ability to prioritise tasks.
• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.

Responsibilities

• Support the Site Manager with the maintenance, cleanliness, safety and smooth day-to-day operation of the school premises.
• Coordinate and supervise premises officers, caretaking and cleaning teams to support safe, efficient and high-quality service delivery.
• Assist external contractors, coordinate works and help ensure activities are completed safely and effectively.
• Carry out regular inspections and daily, weekly and monthly checks, identifying maintenance, repair and improvement requirements.
• Support planned maintenance schedules and respond effectively to operational and maintenance needs.
• Assist with health and safety compliance and digital estates systems, maintaining accurate records and required checks.
• Help manage maintenance budgets and ensure efficient use of resources.
• Collaborate with school leadership and the wider community to address premises needs, emergencies and lettings requirements.
