Job summary

Amey seeks a Premises Manager to lead the Penistone Grammar School site in Barnsley, ensuring safe, secure and fully operational facilities. The role focuses on health and safety, contractor oversight and delivering excellent service to pupils and staff.

You will work with school leadership to drive compliant, sustainable operations and continuous improvement across the education portfolio.

Qualifications

• Experience managing or supervising facilities, estates or building services teams.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements.
• Experience overseeing contractors, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple demands.
• Competent IT skills, including experience of CAFM or compliance management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate site-based facilities teams, creating a culture of safety, accountability and excellent customer service.
• Ensure statutory compliance activities, inspections and maintenance programmes are delivered effectively and on time.
• Manage day-to-day site operations, keeping school environments safe, secure, compliant and fit for learning.
• Oversee planned preventative maintenance activities and contractor performance, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
• Build strong relationships with school leadership teams and operational stakeholders, providing clear communication and proactive problem solving.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across compliance, sustainability, energy management and operational performance.
