Job summary

Essex County Council is recruiting a School Crossing Patrol Officer at St John's CE Primary School, Buckhurst Hill. The role involves supervising morning and afternoon crossings to protect pedestrians commuting to and from school over 39 academic weeks, with approximately 35 minutes in the morning and 45 minutes in the afternoon.

You will work a total of 6 hours 15 minutes per week. Uniform, equipment and training are provided, and the post requires punctual, reliable and friendly individuals

Qualifications

• Punctual, reliable and approachable with good public engagement.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of pedestrians crossing near the school.
• Maintain regular contact with the schools served by the crossing.
• Assess risks at the crossing and report defects to the supervisor.
• Assist in reporting accidents and other incidents at the crossing site.
• Ensure uniform and equipment provided is kept in good condition.
• Give clear signals to drivers to stop and let pedestrians cross.
