Neath Port Talbot Council is seeking a School Crossing Patrol for YGG Castell-nedd in Neath. The role covers two hours per day during term time on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2027. You will gather and safely cross pedestrians near the school, coordinating with traffic to ensure safety.

The post requires good communication, reliability, and the ability to follow strict timings and guidelines. Training is provided, and a supportive benefits package is offered.

School Crossing Patrol Officer (YGG Castell-nedd)

Contract: Fixed Term until 31/03/2027

Location of post: Woodland Road, Neath

Your workstyle in this role will require you to work from a fixed workplace.

We are currently seeking an individual to join the Road Safety team as a School Crossing Patrol, covering YGG Castell-nedd in Neath. The post is for two hours per day, term time only (1 hour in the morning, 1 hour in the afternoon) on a fixed term renewable contract until 31 March 2027. The post requires the gathering and safe road crossing of pedestrians whilst crossing the road at or near the school.

The main duties of the post:

• The gathering of school pedestrians in preparation for road crossing.
• The control and direction of the pedestrians when gathered.
• The stopping of traffic when necessary
• Supervision of the pedestrians when crossing
• The reporting of matters connected with their duties.

About you:

Do you have:-

Work Experience

• Previous experience working with road safety issues.
• Previous experience working with members of the public - both children and adults.

Ideally you will have the following abilities:

• Ability to communicate with others.
• Ability to work to with minimum supervision.
• Ability to work to strict times and guidelines.

There are no formal qualifications required for this role, as full training will be provided
