Job summary

GIPSIL in Leeds is seeking an experienced Counsellor or Play Therapist who shares our values of compassion, courage and collaboration to deliver school-based counselling for children and young people aged 4-16.

The role involves one-to-one work in schools, developing creative approaches, maintaining records and contributing to multi-agency work, with regular supervision and access to CPD.

Qualifications

  • Recognised counselling/play therapy qualification (minimum Diploma level).
  • Post‑qualification experience delivering counselling or play therapy in schools.
  • Experience using creative methods in counselling young people.
  • Collaborative mindset and commitment to working in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake one to one Counselling/Play Therapy with children and young people within a school setting as directed by GIPSIL.
  • Build and maintain referral systems and relationships with school staff, parents/carers and other professionals.
  • Respond promptly to new referrals, providing an accessible service to meet needs of children and young people.
  • Manage own caseload, maintain records and meet reporting requirements.
  • Use data collection tools to record, monitor and evaluate projects regularly.
  • Participate in multi-agency working as appropriate.
