Job summary

The Supply Register is recruiting on behalf of a specialist school for an experienced School Cook to join their friendly team. This is a part-time, permanent role in Dartington, Devon.

The post involves preparing healthy meals for pupils and staff, with duties including cooking, planning service times, stock control, and maintaining hygiene standards in a school kitchen.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Cook, ideally within a school, care, healthcare or commercial catering environment.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Good understanding of food safety, allergen awareness and kitchen hygiene.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Two professional references covering the last 24 months.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious, balanced meals for pupils and staff.
• Plan and deliver meals efficiently within agreed service times.
• Maintain a clean, organised and well-stocked kitchen.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies where required.
• Ensure all food is prepared and served in accordance with Food Hygiene, Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
• Carry out daily cleaning duties and maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
• Work closely with colleagues to provide an efficient catering service.
• Promote a positive dining experience for pupils.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the School Catering Manager.
