Job summary

Birchensale Middle School is seeking a reliable Cleaning Assistant to join the friendly cleaning team in Redditch, United Kingdom. The role covers a wide range of cleaning duties to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for pupils and staff.

Hours are 20 per week during term time with early start times. The position is permanent and includes annual banked hours. Training and ongoing CPD are available, with a supportive leadership team and opportunities for career progression.

Qualifications

• Clear communication and the ability to follow instructions.
• Prior experience as a cleaning operative is helpful but not essential.
• Ability to prioritise work and manage time effectively.
• Willing to undertake training if required.

Responsibilities

• Clean designated areas of the school as allocated by the caretaker.
• Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and appropriately.
• Report any defects or hazards immediately.
• Support deep-cleaning tasks during school holidays (e.g., high-level dusting, wall washing, moving furniture, floor stripping and sealing).
• Operate machinery such as vacuum cleaners and polishers.
• Carry out routine cleaning tasks including vacuuming floors, wiping surfaces, emptying waste and recycling bins.
