Job summary

Todmorden High School is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to maintain classrooms, corridors and communal areas to a high standard. You will perform routine cleaning tasks and support the smooth day‑to‑day running of the cleaning team.

The successful candidate will be reliable with good time management and a commitment to health & safety policies. Full training will be provided and the role is on‑site within a supportive, team‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in general cleaning duties within a school or similar environment.
• Familiarity with maintaining cleaning schedules and ensuring compliance with school policies and procedures.
• Ability to plan and oversee a variety of cleaning tasks across the school site.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning of toilets, urinals and showers.
• Vacuuming and spot cleaning carpets.
• Dry and damp mopping hard floors.
• Damp dusting and polishing of furniture, fittings, ledges and radiators.
• Floor maintenance using electrical floor machines.
• High dusting of high-level ledges and walls.
• Removal of waste to designated refuse collection area.
• Dusting of low-level light fittings and shades.
• Cleaning of wall tiles, removal of marks and stains on wall surfaces.
• Security of equipment and materials.
