Job summary

Nottingham City Council is looking for reliable and hardworking Cleaners to help maintain clean, safe and hygienic environments across its school premises. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring classrooms, corridors, toilets and communal areas are kept to a high standard of cleanliness for pupils, teachers and school staff.

Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitising rooms, disinfecting surfaces, emptying bins and safe handling of cleaning

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning experience, ideally in schools, commercial, or public sector.
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads.
• Good understanding of cleaning practices and hygiene standards.
• Knowledge of safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Reliability, punctuality and a hardworking approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting.
• Clean and sanitise classrooms, corridors, offices, toilets and communal areas.
• Disinfect frequently touched surfaces, desks, tables and door handles.
• Empty bins, dispose of waste and replace bin liners.
• Clean dining areas, staff rooms and other shared facilities as required.
• Safely use cleaning products, chemicals and equipment in line with COSHH guidelines.
• Follow health and safety procedures and maintain high hygiene standards.
• Ensure all allocated cleaning tasks are completed within the required timeframes.
