Job summary

Norton Hill School in Midsomer Norton is hiring a part-time School Cleaner for 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 3:30pm–6:30pm. The role is permanent and year-round, with pro rata salary of £10,384–£10,547 for the 15 hours. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming environment for staff, students and visitors.

The ideal candidate will have attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently. Training provided; a strong teamwork attitude is valued.

Qualifications

• Prior commercial cleaning experience is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.
• Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Good physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks such as sweeping, mopping, lifting, and bending.
• Nice-to-have: hotel housekeeping, commercial cleaning, or related services.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning of floors, surfaces, toilets, and common areas using appropriate cleaning tools and supplies.
• Ensure all areas are sanitized according to health and safety standards.
• Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap, and cleaning products to maintain operational readiness.
• Handle waste disposal efficiently and responsibly in designated bins and recycling stations.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and report any malfunctions or damages promptly.
• Follow cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure consistency and quality.
• Assist with special cleaning projects or deep cleans as needed.
• Use cleaning materials and equipment safely per instructions.
• Complete all required records and online training.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and security regulations.
• Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade of the post.
