Job summary

Education World Ltd. is seeking a School Catering Manager for Sunderland to lead the daily running of the school kitchen. The role is 36 hours per week, term time only, with an immediate start and a Monday to Friday pattern.

You will prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals, manage dietary requirements and allergens, supervise staff, and maintain high standards of hygiene and health and safety across the kitchen.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school kitchen or catering management role.
• A Food Hygiene/Food Safety qualification.
• Strong knowledge of allergen management.
• Ability to manage stock and rotation.

Responsibilities

Are you an experienced Catering Manager looking for your next role in Sunderland?

Location: Sunderland

Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday - Friday, term time only.

The role

As the school's Catering Manager, you may be responsible for:

• Overseeing the day-to-day running of the school kitchen
• Preparing, cooking and serving nutritious meals in line with agreed menus
• Managing dietary requirements and allergens safely
• Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and health and safety
• Organising food preparation and meal service efficiently
• Supervising and supporting catering staff
• Managing stock, ordering, storage, labelling and rotation
• Maintaining appropriate kitchen records and documentation
• Ensuring kitchen equipment and working areas are clean and safely maintained
• Working closely with school staff to provide an efficient and welcoming catering service
• Following school and safeguarding procedures at all times

What we're looking for

You’ll Ideally Have:

• Experience working in a school kitchen, catering management role or similar environment
• A relevant Food Hygiene/Food Safety qualification
• A strong understanding of food hygiene, health and safety and allergen management
• Experience preparing and serving meals to agreed menus and standards
• Confidence managing stock, storage and food rotation
• Strong organisation and time-management skills
• The ability to lead and work effectively as part of a catering team
• A professional and positive approach when working around children and school staff
• A good understanding of safeguarding and your responsibilities when working in a school environment
