Job summary

Crofton Academy in Wakefield is seeking a Catering Assistant to join the catering team. This term-time role (plus 5 additional days) covers 10 hours per week, supporting preparation, service and safe handling of food for pupils and staff.

Reporting to the Kitchen Manager, you will work to national guidelines and food hygiene standards, serve via cashless till, maintain cleanliness, and assist with waste disposal and equipment cleaning.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Award in Food Safety & Hygiene is required.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills are expected.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet priorities.
• Flexible and hardworking attitude with a willingness to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers using the cashless till system and keep the area clean at all times.
• Communicate effectively with staff and pupils to ensure quality service.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the food hall and seating area.
• Complete training and adhere to Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene in the kitchen and dispose of waste appropriately.
• Clean and maintain dishes and catering equipment.
