Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Catering Assistant to participate in daily operation of the school catering unit. You will assist with basic food prep, service points, and dining area setup, while maintaining hygiene and safety standards.

This role supports pupils and staff and contributes to promoting meals within the school community. You will work under the direction of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor and liaise with the central kitchen as needed to ensure smooth

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages using appropriate equipment.
• Simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food.
• Organising and controlling food service points.
• Transferring and serving meals and snacks including transported meals.
• Assisting with promotion of meals to pupils, parents and staff.
• Maintaining regular contact with the central kitchen regarding service delivery.
• Preparing the dining area and setting tables, cutlery and serving points.
• Completing general kitchen and dining room duties including washing up and cleaning.
• Recording temperatures for control purposes.
• Adhering to statutory requirements and school values.
