Job summary

King’s College School is seeking a General Catering Assistant to join a 38-strong catering team. You will help deliver lunches to over 1,750 people daily during term time and support school events across sites, including the new Junior School campus opening in 2028.

Flexibility to work across locations is expected. Training will be provided for food hygiene and allergy awareness, with strong teamwork and communication emphasized.

Qualifications

• Ability to work within a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Good communication with pupils and staff on a daily basis.
• Catering experience is desirable but full training is provided.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene is advantageous; full training offered.
• Understanding of allergy awareness is preferred; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Setting up refreshments for morning break.
• Setting up servery counters for lunch service.
• Serving lunch and cleaning up afterwards in Rushmere kitchen.
• Cleaning areas in the main dining room.
• Assisting with hospitality events and functions.
• Using dishwashers and restocking cutlery and crockery.
• Assisting with function work (setting up, serving and clearing).
