Job summary

Rochdale Council in Heywood is seeking a reliable Caretaker on a casual contract for a busy secondary school. The role focuses on site security, general caretaking and handyperson tasks to keep the buildings well maintained and safe.

Starting ASAP with flexible hours as required, you’ll support school events and day-to-day operations. The position offers £13.27 per hour (pay award pending) and LGPS membership; training is provided and career development is available.

Qualifications

• Dependable, flexible and takes pride in their work.
• Practical and confident in carrying out basic repairs and maintenance.
• A team player with a positive attitude.
• Experience in a school or similar setting is desirable, though not essential.
• Aware of Health & Safety requirements (training will be provided).

Responsibilities

• Unlocking and locking the site and ensuring overall site security.
• Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance including handyperson tasks.
• Assisting with deliveries, furniture moves and other practical site tasks.
• Supporting the site team to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
• Providing additional site support as required.
