TeacherActive is recruiting a dedicated Caretaker for a secondary school in Cheddar. You will join an established site team, carrying out regular maintenance and compliance checks to ensure a safe, well-presented environment.

The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with some early starts and late finishes. We value reliability, practical skills and a proactive approach to maintaining high building standards for staff and students.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaking, building or site maintenance.
• Practical maintenance skills such as carpentry or plumbing.
• Knowledge of building compliance and safety checks.
• Reliable, detail-oriented and flexible with hours.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular building compliance checks.
• Perform general maintenance to keep facilities in good condition.
• Support staff with the effective use of the building and facilities.
• Assist with the school lettings programme and occasional early starts/late finishes.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a highly oversubscribed secondary school in Cheddar that is looking to appoint a Caretaker. The school has a strong values-based culture focused on learning, enrichment and supporting its young people, and has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, with ‘Outstanding’ leadership and management and personal development.

The school is looking to take on a Caretaker on a, full-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week, with part-time requests considered. The successful Caretaker will work as part of an established site team, carrying out regular building compliance checks, general maintenance, supporting staff with the effective use of the building and assisting with the school’s lettings programme, with some early starts and late finishes required.

The successful Caretaker will have:

• Previous experience in a caretaking, building, property or site maintenance role
• Practical maintenance skills, including experience with carpentry, plumbing or similar areas
• Experience or knowledge of carrying out building compliance and safety checks
• A proactive approach to maintaining buildings to a high standard
• Excellent reliability, trustworthiness and attention to detail
• Flexibility to work early starts or late finishes when required
